Lost Republic
"A system of capitalism presumes sound money, not fiat money manipulated by a central bank. Capitalism cherishes voluntary contracts and interest rates that are determined by savings, not credit creation by a central bank."

Report: US Asked Israel Not to Start Any Major Wars Until Obama Takes Office

Posted in Election, Iran, Israel/Palestine on November 25th, 2008

from antiwar.com:

Amid several bellicose comments about the possibility of an impending Israeli strike against Iran Israeli Defense Ministry officials say they have been contacted by US officials who have asked them to refrain from launching any attacks against Iran until after President-elect Barack Obama takes office in January. Likewise, the officials reportedly have cautioned Israel not to launch its long-reported ground invasion of the Gaza Strip until after the inauguration.

An Israeli attack on Iran would almost certainly be interpreted as an American attack, and would likely spark a broad war between Iran and the United States. That prospect, with less than two months before the administration change and President Bush keeping a close eye on his legacy, seems unappealing.

The Israeli military insists that, despite reports to the contrary, it has no intentions of launching a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip any time soon. On the other hand Israel’s elections are scheduled for early February, and with the hawkish opposition Likud Party leading in the polls the outgoing government might gamble on its ability to reap political advantage from a dramatic move on one or both fronts.

German Intelligence Agents Caught Staging False Flag Terror

Posted in False Flags on November 24th, 2008

German intelligence agents have been caught staging a false flag terror attack against an EU building in Kosovo, apparently in an attempt to create a pretext for EU police to be deployed in Kosovo after government leaders rejected the UN-mandated proposal.

Germany declined to comment on on Saturday on reports that three Germans arrested on suspicion of throwing explosives at an EU office in Kosovo were intelligence officers, reports Reuters.

. . . .

The alleged presence of covert intelligence operatives has led to a deterioration in the cordial relations between Germany and the newly independent Kosovo. The German foreign ministry confirmed that three German citizens had been detained in Kosovo. The BND had no comment, reports the European Voice. (Read more from infowars.com)

Antiwar groups fear Barack Obama may create hawkish Cabinet

Activists note that most of the candidates for top security posts voted for the 2002 resolution authorizing President Bush to invade Iraq or otherwise supported launching the war.

Reporting from Washington — Antiwar groups and other liberal activists are increasingly concerned at signs that Barack Obama’s national security team will be dominated by appointees who favored the Iraq invasion and hold hawkish views on other important foreign policy issues.

“It’s astonishing that not one of the 23 senators or 133 House members who voted against the war is in the mix,” said Sam Husseini of the liberal group Institute for Public Accuracy.

Clinton, who was Obama’s chief opponent during the Democratic presidential primaries, appears to be the top candidate for secretary of State in his administration. Speculation about Clinton has dismayed some liberal activists but has cheered some conservatives such as former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and editor William Kristol of the Weekly Standard.

Clinton voted in favor of the Iraq war resolution, and despite pressure, she never said during the primary campaign that she regretted that vote. She also favored legislation last year to support the designation of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization, another decision that pleased conservatives. There is no “left” opposing the “right.” It is power vs. freedom, and both parties have come to represent power. Resist.

This is an early indication, that the prophet, Ron Paul was right again: Obama = more of the same.

Question: Can we create cult of personality who’ll allow the privileged criminals who run this country to continue frittering away American lives and American wealth in pursuit of empire?

Answer: YES WE CAN!!!!!!

Court Case Reveals Fed’s Status as a Private Institution

Posted in Money/Economy/Taxes on November 19th, 2008

Plaintiff, who was injured by vehicle owned and operated by a federal reserve bank, brought action alleging jurisdiction under the Federal Tort Claims Act. The United States District Court for the Central District of California, David W. Williams, J., dismissed holding that federal reserve bank was not a federal agency within meaning of Act and that the court therefore lacked subject-matter jurisdiction. Appeal was taken. The Court of Appeals, Poole, Circuit Judge, held that federal reserve banks are not federal instrumentalities for purposes of the Act, but are independent, privately owned and locally controlled corporations. Good evidence in support of the obvious: The monetary supply of the United States (home of the free & land of the brave) is controlled by a secretive private institution, hardly more federal than Federal Express.

He offered a $50,000 reward to anyone who could name the law which requires us to pay income tax.

Click here to see his website. It seems he’s imprisoned again and appealing the decisions.

I wonder what the charges were. Am I the only one completely astounded that there can be so many people asking, “what law requires us to pay income tax?” and no one answering. Is it a hoax? And if it’s a hoax, then: What law requires us to pay income tax?

New ‘pro-Israel, pro-peace’ lobby J Street hopes for Obama-era growth

Posted in Election, Israel Lobby on November 18th, 2008

WASHINGTON – Will the “Obama effect” that enabled Democratic candidates to ride the party’s presidential candidate into Congress also contribute toward changing the map of Jewish influence on Capitol Hill? J Street, the “pro-Israel, pro-peace” lobbying group and Political Action Committee (PAC) formed just last April and seen as the left’s answer to the veteran American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), is counting on it.

Though only about six months old, J Street already managed to raise $570,000 for 41 Congressional candidates, most of them Democrats. Six of them lost their races, and three are still awaiting the final results. (Read More from Haaretz.com)

The Strange Case of Jerome Daly’s Mortgage (1968)

Posted in Money/Economy/Taxes on November 18th, 2008

It is little known and long practiced that banks create money out of thin air based only on your promise to pay it back. (Click here for a quick lesson on where money comes from.)

Here’s a surprising story about a mortgage nullified based on this concept:

“I first stumbled across the very curious case of Jerome Daly through an article by Ellen Brown, author of the book Web of Debt. It concerns a foreclosure case in Minnesota in 1968 that has yet to be overturned, and the issues go straight to the heart of the sleight of hand that the banking system is built upon. The case also presents an optimistic view of how individuals can take back the power to create money from the private banks.

Jerome Daly was a homeowner living in Minnesota who stopped paying his mortgage. The lender, First National Bank of Montgomery, of course, sued the man for foreclosure. Daly presented his argument before a jury as to why he did not owe the bank anything.

Essentially, he argued that the bank had not provided any consideration for Daly’s promise to pay back the loan. Consideration is one of the requirements for a valid contract, and without it, a contract is void. Daly was arguing that the mortgage contract was void and did not need to be repaid because the bank had not actually given him any money. The lender had created the money out of thin air in response to the promise to repay the loan.

This credit, argued Daly, was not real money that counted as consideration and therefore did not need to be paid back. Without valid consideration, the mortgage contract was null and void and nothing was owed to the bank. Astoundingly enough, the jury agreed with him and declared that the mortgage was not a valid contract.” (Read more from ezinearticles.com)

Are you an idiot to keep paying your mortgage?
Should you keep paying your mortgage? If you have significant equity in your home, absolutely.

If you don’t, it’s getting harder to answer that question, especially when our government keeps giving people who owe more than their homes are worth so many reasons not to pay.

Last week, the government announced a program that will substantially lower payments for many homeowners who have little or no equity, but only if they are at least 90 days delinquent.

Critics say the plan, which applies to loans owned or guaranteed by government wards Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac among others, could encourage people to suspend payments.

But what about the moral obligation to pay off a debt?

Elected officials have been chipping away at that by blaming the foreclosure crisis largely on predatory lenders. In a campaign fact sheet, President-elect Barack Obama says he “recognizes that the real victims in the subprime mortgage crisis are not the lenders, but the millions of borrowers who followed the rules and whose only crime was taking out mortgages that lenders told them they could afford.” (Read more from sfgate.com)
