Lost Republic
". . . man’s inalienable right was the peace and freedom in which, by his own efforts and sweat, he could gain dignity and independence, owing nothing to any man."

The Misesian Vision & Leviathan State

“It appears that the more liberty we loose, the less people are able to imagine how liberty might work. . . People can no longer imagine a world in which we might be secure without massive invasions of our privacy at every step.” -Lew Rockwell.

I found this on Reddit:

I looked up the verses and found them a little more convoluted than this man’s sign, though with the same basic message:

13 ¶ If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,
14 and give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a maid:
15 then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel’s virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate:
16 and the damsel’s father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hateth her;
17 and, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter’s virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
18 And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
19 and they shall amerce him in a hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
20 But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel:
21 then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die; because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father’s house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.
(King James)

13 If a man takes a wife and, after lying with her, dislikes her
14 and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this woman, but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity,”
15 then the girl’s father and mother shall bring proof that she was a virgin to the town elders at the gate.
16 The girl’s father will say to the elders, “I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her.
17 Now he has slandered her and said, ‘I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.’ But here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.” Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town,
18 and the elders shall take the man and punish him.
19 They shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver [b] and give them to the girl’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives.
20 If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the girl’s virginity can be found,
21 she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done a disgraceful thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father’s house. You must purge the evil from among you.
22 If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.

Ron Paul wins CPAC straw poll

Posted in Election / Politicians, Ron Paul on February 21st, 2010

In a strong reflection of just how strong his standing remains within the die-hard conservative community, Texas Republican and 2008 presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul won the Conservative Political Action Conference straw poll on Saturday, earning nearly one-third (31 percent) of the entire vote. The crowd, however, booed heavily when the results were announced.

Paul was far and away the most widely anticipated speaker at the three-day conference, with his base of “Paulites” streaming into the main auditorium to hear him rail against government overreach and neoconservativism on Friday afternoon. In many respects, his win in the CPAC poll seemed pre-ordained — his band of followers having a well-earned reputation for flooding polls and forums like these. . . .

. . . former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who earned 22 percent of the vote, and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin who came in third with seven percent. Romney had won the last three CPAC polls. Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, another talked about 2012 aspirant, tied “undecided” for fourth place at six percent. (Read more from huffingtonpost.com)

This is a very strong indictment of neo-conservatism. Look for the government provocateurs, false flag terrorism, and lots of propaganda as the neo-conservatives try to hang on to power.

HR 4248 Free Competition In Currency Act Of 2009

Posted in Sound Money on February 19th, 2010

On 9 December 2009 Representative Ron Paul introduced H.R. 4248 the Free Competition in Currency Act of 2009. This Act has the potential to impact the investment world more than any other legislation that has been enacted for decades. The impact on the bond market, Treasury market, stock market and general economy would be tremendous and disruptive.

The aims of the Act are fairly simple to (1) repeal federal law which currently decrees unconstitutional forms of currency legal tender, (2) prohibit federal taxes on gold, silver, platinum, palladium or rhodium bullion, (3) prohibit States from assessing tax or fees on any currency or monetary instrument used in interstate or foreign commerce that has legal tender status under the United States Constitution, (4) repeal federal criminal code pertaining to gold, silver or other metal coins and nullify any previous convictions under those codes.

Like he has often been when attempting to restore the checks and balances of the Constitution on this issue with H.R. 4248 Dr. Ron Paul is the lone voice in the wilderness and has no co-sponsors. (Read more from news.goldseek.com)

Time covers Vermont Secessionist Campaign

Posted in Big Media, Secession on February 19th, 2010

The President on Wednesday may have reassured Americans that the state of the Union is “strong,” but, just the week before, a group of Vermont secessionists declared their intention to seek political power in a quest to get their state to quit the Union altogether. On Jan. 15, in the state capital of Montpelier, nine candidates for statewide office gathered in a tiny room at the Capitol Plaza Hotel, to announce they wanted a divorce from the United States of America. “For the first time in over 150 years, secession and political independence from the U.S. will be front and center in a statewide New England political campaign,” said Thomas Naylor, 73, one of the leaders of the campaign.

A former Duke University economics professor, Naylor heads up the Second Vermont Republic, which he describes as “left-libertarian, anti-big government, anti-empire, antiwar, with small is beautiful as our guiding philosophy.” The group not only advocates the peaceful secession of Vermont but has minted its own silver “token” — valued at $25 — and, as part of a publishing venture with another secessionist group, runs a monthly newspaper called Vermont Commons, with a circulation of 10,000. According to a 2007 poll, they have support from at least 13% of state voters. The campaign slogan, Naylor told me, is “Imagine Free Vermont.” (Read more from time.com)

Report: Dubai assassins used U.S. credit accounts

Posted in Assassination, Israel/Palestine on February 18th, 2010

U.K. demands Israel’s aid in probing alleged use of fake U.K. passports by killers of Hamas strongman.

Dubai authorities are looking into five U.S.-issued credit card accounts suspected to have been used by the alleged assassins of Hamas strongman Mahmoud al-Mabhouh last January, the Wall Street journal reported on Thursday.

The cards, according to the Wall Street Journal report, issued by U.S. banks, were used by the suspected assassins to buy plane tickets connected to the operation, as well as other travel related items.

If indeed the cards will prove to have been used by the suspected killers of the Hamas commander, that incident could join a string of diplomatic strains between Israel, who many estimate is behind the assassination, and it’s western allies. (Read more from haaretz.com)

Syrian official: Golan tax breaks prove Israel doesn’t want peace

Posted in Israel/Palestine on February 17th, 2010

A Syrian Foreign Ministry official said Thursday that a Knesset bill that would grant tax benefits to residents of the Golan Heights, a territory that Syria demands that Israel return in any peace agreement, proves that Israel does not really want peace, Israel Radio reported.

On Wednesday, some 67 of the 120 lawmakers in the Knesset voted in favor of the bill, while 13 voted against. The rest abstained or were absent. (Read more from haaretz.com)

Sarah Palin Uses PAC to Buy Her Own Book

Posted in Corruption, Election / Politicians on February 17th, 2010

Sarah Palin has been using her political action committee to buy up thousands of copies of her book, “Going Rogue,” in order to mail copies of the memoir to her donors, newly filed campaign records show.
Alaska governor’s decision to step down has many people puzzled.

The former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate had her political organization spend more than $63,000 on what her reports describe as “books for fundraising donor fulfillment.” The payments went to Harper Collins, her publisher, and in some instances to HSP Direct, a Virginia-based direct mail fundraising firm that serves a number of well-known conservative politicians and pundits.
